Welcome to Edmodo 101!
Want to connect, collaborate, and create with your classroom? Edmodo is a wonderful solution for an interactive online classroom environment. Edmodo supports polling. blogging, assignment delivery and collection, differentiation, and so much more.
We have lots of KEDC school districts using Edmodo. Sometimes it's nice to see what's going on outside of our state. I recently discovered this video highlighting a Florida school's Edmodo journey:
Getting Started
1. Create an Edmodo account. Teachers follow this link for help. Students follow this link for help.
2. Join my Edmodo group! Edmodo is organized in groups you either create or join. To join a group you either need a group code or the hyperlink to the group from the creator. You will enter a group code under the "Groups" header by selecting the + sign and choosing "Join". Click here for more detailed instructions.
Follow this link to request to join my group
After joining my group, you can browse an extensive list of teacher created groups by viewing this document. This is a wonderful way to build your PLN and connect with other educators. Please remember these groups were created for teachers and not students.
4. Have Students Join Your Group Edmodo automatically generates a unique code for every group you create. The group code is located on that group's page under the title. To launch a particular group, just click the group title from your home page. Share the code with your students and have them enter the code in the same way that you joined a group. If students are new to Edmodo, they can follow these directions. Existing Edmodo students can join your group using these directions. You are then ready to start posting and sharing content!
5. Connect with Communities Edmodo offers the opportunity to connect with educators around the world through communities. These groups are a constant information stream of instructional ideas (not just Edmodo techie stuff) that become part of your Edmodo home page feed once you choose to follow them. Click here to access directions to connect with Edmodo communities, or you can browse available communities from your home page by clicking "Show All" and then "Discover New Communities"
6. Next Steps Now that you have a framework for your Edmodo space, it's time to begin posting and sharing content. It is also important to communicate the use of this platform with your parents. Below you will find helpful resources to support your Edmodo rollout. You will also find these resources as a folder entitled "Edmodo Resources" within my Edmodo group.
